Vice Chancellor-LPU trains faculty of IIT Gandhinagar : Motivates faculty to change approach in education delivery system.

Dr. Vijay Gupta (Vice Chancellor, Lovely Professional University) was invited by IIT Gandhinagar (IITGn) to hold a workshop and train its faculty in the various facets of imparting learning in engineering, technology and sciences. The workshop was held to capitalize on the vast experience of the seasoned academician and infuse more professionalism and effectiveness in the way learning is imparted to budding engineers.
In the 14 hour workshop Dr. Gupta delivered lectures on various issues like pedagogy, designing of curriculum, conduct of examination and teachers' evaluation. Various models of ensuring effective studies in campuses were discussed and the teachers were advised to ignite the inquisitive spark within the students. Dr. Gupta also stressed that the examination and evaluation system should be as such that it should try to develop the analytical skills of the students, rather than the ability to memorise and reproduce a theoretical concept.

The workshop was attended by all the faculty members of IITGn, including its Director Prof. Sudhir K Jain. The lectures of Dr. Gupta were video graphed for further use by the faculty. The VC told this correspondent that though the faculty of IITGn is very good as far as qualification parameters are concerned, yet many of them were not exposed to modern methods of teaching of engineering, technology and science. He also told that Lovely Professional University, Phagwara is striving to employ the same pedagogy and curriculum designing systems, as were prescribed in the workshop
